Torn From Her Arms Lifetime movie is based on a true story of one of the separated families at the Southern US border.
As part of the Zero Tolerance Policy the US agents were segregating immigrants that showed up on the southern border. Meanwhile, Cindy Madrid had moved Heaven and Earth to escape violence in El Salvador with her six year daughter.
But the real nightmare began when they reached the US – a near mythical place where life was always safe, fair, and just. At the border two were torn from each others arm and mercilessly transferred to two different detention centers. Each not knowing where the other was or if they will see each other again.
But when a whistleblower broke the story of the six year old, the people once again proved that democracy works and relentlessly questioned the administration and justice system.
Thelma Garcia, a Texas Immigration lawyer worked tirelessly to reunite the pair. Can she fight a inherently difficult system and a biased administration and make them do the right thing?
