The Secret Life of Miss Anna Marsh has a lot to offer as you might have guessed from the title. We know we have a single debutante, and she has a secret. But you will be blown away when you come to know what her secret is. Ella Quinn has delivered an enjoyable book with an ever changing plot and hot romance.
Anna has grown up tagging behind her brother Harry and his friend Sebastian. Now Harry has been killed in the war against France and Sebastian is an imposing Baron impervious to her charms. Anna is torn by the rift her brother’s death seems to have caused between her parents. She is in love with Sebastian but doubts that he understands her, or her radical ideas. Back in the country for the winter, Anna secretly heads a smugglers’ gang made up of the locals.
Sebastian is a spy and is back in the country to track down the smugglers. Little does he know that Anna is involved. Sebastian tries to woo Anna against his snobbish mother’s wishes. Miss Emeline is traveling from the islands to England for the first time. She is accosted by a rogue but meets an unlikely knight who saves her. Plans are afoot to smuggle spies into England via the smugglers.
Anna tries to fight her attraction to the Baron Sebastian unaware of his intentions. But the flame that burns between them is too hot. The Marsh family gets an unexpected surprise that will change everything. Will Anna still retain control over her gang? Will the cottage on the cliffs remain secret from prying eyes? What agenda does the Baron’s mother have?
Ella Quinn’s The Secret Life of Miss Anna Marsh has so many twists and turns you will forget this is a Regency romance. There is none of the usual dresses and balls stuff. We see old fashioned action, of many kinds. The romance is hot and heavy and will steam up your Kindle. Romance lovers can really not complain about the heat index here.
Overall, this is a fantastic book that I wholly recommend, along with a mug of warm cider and a roaring fire.
