The Investigation series is a Scandinavian original drama that premieres on HBO this week . The series is based on a true crime incident that happened in 2017 surrounding the murder of a journalist. The news soon became international headline around the world as one of the most notorious criminal cases in Danish media history. The series was made in close cooperation with the real-life Jens Møller and Kim Wall’s parents, Ingrid and Joachim Wall.
What is The Investigation HBO Series About?
The Investigation series follows Jens Møller, the Head of Homicide, and his team in the pursuit of the truth of a journalist’s murder.
A homemade submarine carrying Swedish journalist Kim Wall and the submarine’s inventor have gone missing. When the submarine is located later in the day, only the inventor is rescued before it suddenly sinks. Now Jens and his team of investigators must quickly decide how to approach the case, as Kim is still missing.
Forensics believe they have found evidence that shows Kim is dead. However, Chief Prosecutor Jakob Buch-Jepsen (Pilou Asbæk) emphasizes that they must determine the motive and cause of death in order to bring charges against the accused – and if they’re unable to dispel any reasonable doubt, there’s no case.
What is the Cast of The Investigation?
Søren Malling leads the cast as Jens Møller, the Head of Homicide for the Copenhagen Police, alongside Pilou Asbæk as the prosecutor Jakob Buch-Jepsen. Tobias Lindholm of The Mindhunter directs the series that premieres on February 1 2021.
