One of the first restaurants in Pune to exclusively celebrate the cuisine of NWFP and the nawabs of Lucknow, The Great Kabab Factory, Kharadi started serving patrons nearly ten years ago. For Kabab enthusiasts, it was the place to try out succulent kabab preparation of Lucknow. In its new avatar, The Great Kabab Factory, Kharadi, Pune and Chef Amol Patil makes sure that vegetarians are not left out.
The Great Kabab Factory Ambience
I have been planning to visit this place for a long time. However, I prefer to have heavy lunches and burn off all those calories instead of heavy dinners – and The Great Kabab Factory, Kharadi is open only for dinners. But with its relaunch and new menu, we decided to head on finally give it a try.
The restaurant is located on the first floor and has a perfect setting for a fine dining experience. Dim lights and mellow ghazals add to the comfortable pace of the set menu.
There are multiple seating areas with enough privacy for groups of all sizes. With many nooks and recesses, you can choose booths or big round tables to chat with everyone in the group.
The Great Kabab Factory Food
Apart from the A la Carte menu, the restaurant now offers a set menu for its patrons. The exhaustive starters and a balanced main course gives you enough options to suit everyone’s palate.
Set menus have the best of both worlds, where you get the variety of a buffet and the fresh preparation like when you order off the menu. The set menu at The Great Kabab Factory, Kharadi comes with six vegetarians and six non-vegetarian starters.
Appetizers
In the new menu, the restaurant has retained some old favorites like the Galauti Kabab and Lamb Chops, while adding exciting new options.
The vegetarians won’t feel left out in all the new menu excitement with the Stuffed Paneer Paratdaar that just melts in you mouth. A stuffing of nuts is covered with soft and fresh paneer, which is then enveloped with a thin layer of puff pastry and is a layered delight.
The Pumpkin Burrata Chop is another new addition for vegetarians that brings a fresh new dish. Going beyond the usual Paneer and Potato, the chefs have come up with a vegetable base and added premium cheese that gives dish a unique texture and taste.
For the non-vegetarian diners, The Great Kabab Factory, Kharadi introduces Orange and Dill flavored Salmon which could do with a bit more of Dill and orange. The New Zealand Lamp Chops, however, are a must-have. With crispy outside and soft, juicy insides, the lemony Kadak Chop comes with a mouthwatering taste.
Main Course
If you are not really an appetizers person – although I don’t know why, the main course too has some delicious offerings. Diners get two vegetable preparations and two non-veg preparations, along with an assortment of Indian breads. You also get to choose from the vegetable or chicken Biryani as the rice component of your meal.
Desserts
If you have a sweet tooth, you will definitely want to have some desserts before finishing your meal.
The restaurant has an array of Indian and fusion desserts that you are sure to enjoy. From the Mango Panna Cotta with Gulab Jamuns, to rasmalai enveloped in chocolate mousse, the desserts add to the whole experience.
For The Great Kabab Factory fans, it is the time again to visit their favorite restaurant and take the new menu for a ride and for those who haven’t made it there yet, you will definitely enjoy a quiet evening over food with your friends and family.
