What is the Series About?
The series follows follows newly widowed Cora, who, having being released from an abusive marriage, relocates from Victorian London to the small village of Aldwinter in Essex, intrigued by a local superstition that a mythical creature known as the Essex Serpent has returned to the area.
Martha, more than just a servant in Cora’s household and a highly intelligent and fiery young socialist, becomes Cora’s closest confidante,
Stella Ransome, a beautiful soul inside and out, becomes a firm friend of Cora’s on arrival. Cora also forms a surprising bond of science and skepticism with the local pastor.
But when tragedy strikes, locals accuse her of attracting the creature and puts her presence in jeopardy.

The Essex Serpent premieres on Apple TV+ with two episodes on May 13, 2022, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday.
