On a rare visit to her family for Christmas, charitable Annie struggles to relax after years of helping others around the world through her nonprofit.
Annie’s aunt suggests she help rescue the local animals while she’s in town, and she takes the opportunity, until she learns that the rescue center has been forced to close and share space with the local veterinary clinic.
Determined to help the animals find a holiday home, Annie decides to raise stray dogs and have them all adopted before heading to her next job after Christmas. Annie heads to the clinic to begin her mission and meets her old high school debate rival, Dylan.
When Dylan finds out what Annie is up to, he questions her ability to succeed in her challenge. Not wanting to prove to Dylan that she was right about her, Annie sets out to have the dogs adopted herself. But as the days go by and the dogs still don’t have a permanent home, Annie reluctantly accepts Dylan’s help after noticing his special way with people and animals.
As Dylan and Annie work together to save the animals and get the dogs adopted, Annie discovers that finding love and making a difference in the world can happen at home.
