Sugar Plum Twist follows a young ballet dancer who finds a way to fulfill her dream to be in the Dance of Sugar Plum Fairy.
Viviana Serrano is hoping to make be the star dancer in the production of The Nutcracker this year, a dream she has held dear for long. But as the dance nears and announcements are made Viviana fails to make the cut.
Determined to fulfill her dream to be a part of the dance, she joins forces with Natalia, a New York ballet retiree.
As they work together, with the help of the lighting designer Mateo, Natalia spends time with Viví’s big, loving Puerto Rican family and encourages Viví to bring her Latin dance training to her ballet.
Together, they create a surprise reprise of the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy…with a twist.
