Is ‘Sleeping With Danger’ a True Story?

Sleeping with Danger movie on Lifetime Channel premieres on August 1 2020 and brings a story of a woman who barely made it out of the clutches of a psychotic killer.

The movie is based on a true story of Kathy Ann Jewel and her struggle to stay away from the searching eyes of her assailant and boyfriend John William Branden.

The story begins much before the fateful day in 1999 when Kathy finally ran away from him and her house at Gold Beach, Oregon.

Their tale begins in 1989 when Kathy, a flight attendant met John Branden at his office. John ran a company – Bayview medical Group – in San Diego and helped his clients with natural medicine.

Jewell who went there fro her health problems ultimately fell in love and John separated from his wife a year later. What Kathy didn’t know was while John was all charming and loving to her, his neighbor was suing him for Voyeurism. There were also some other clients who were complaining about medical malpractice, sexual assault, and fraud.

Branden managed to fool her and the cases were soon dismissed in court. But as the days passed, Kathy began to feel the rage that was slowly building inside John. His rage peaked when in Gold Beach home, John raped her, made her captive, and threatened to kill her and throw in the ocean.

Jewell managed to escape and left town, changed her identity and stayed out of his way. But she also didn’t want to let John go free and harm other women.

Under immense psychological and physical stress, Kathy kept looking for him as he falsified his residences and helped the FBI to trace him.

But what she always feared finally happened and he was found dead after killing his new girlfriend.
