Shivaay Movie Story

Shivaay is a mountaineer and a guide who falls in love with Olga and has a baby. But she refuses to stay back and hands over the child to Shivaay on his insistence.

Years later, the daughter finds out that her mother is alive and coaxes her father to take her to Bulgaria to meet her mother. There Sivaay inadvertently comes across a child trafficker and rescues the small boy. This eventually leads to Gaura, his daughter getting kidnapped. Now Shivaay must unearth the strong trafficking ring and get his daughter back to safety.

The movie was shot in Bulgarian mountains along with some parts in Hyderabad, India and Mumbai. The editing in the trailer looks sharp and we can hope there won't be any awkward pauses during the action scenes in the movie.

Shivaay Movie Review

Shivaay is Hollywood Father-Daughter Action Drama with a Bollywood tadka of emotions. The first half builds the characters and tried to establish abond between the audiences and the little girl and her father. Ajay Devgn as the Director does this quite well. However, I pity Indian filmmakers, who waste serious moments on idiotic crowds in theaters who will laugh and make jokes of anything. And in the process ruin the moment for all other in the movies halls. Anyway, the first half is quite tight and the story moves at a fast pace. The second half, which has more action, however seems to drag. The action sequences in the movie, as promised, are good and much better than some other Bollywood action movies this year. But that doesn't mean the movie is without faults. Gaura (Abigail) performs well for her role and seems at ease in conveying the emotions. Her not being able to talk, however, seems to convenient for the movie. I can understand it would be difficult to find an expat who has grown up in India in an Indian family, but the least the director could do was allow her to use the sign language. The cinematography of the movie is breathtaking and you will enjoy the sights of majestic snow-clad mountains. Everyone performs quite well in the movie. The second half mostly concentrates on getting Gaura back from traffickers and eerily resembles Taken, to the point that you will identify the actual scenes. The hacker's role seems unnecessary as he intermittently gives audience a tutorial on what he is doing, which anyway seems insignificant to the movie. There are a couple of actions sequences that drag a bit too much. A tighter second half could have done wonders for the movie. Overall, for Taken franchise fans, it is Taken with a little backstory with Bollywood flavor. For those who are not aware of Taken, it is a nice action movie, provided you are lucky enough to get mature audience for company in the movie theaters.
