Presenting a lavish menu based on authentic Indian cuisines inspired from regions of India with royal monarchy, the evolving menu will give patrons a chance to indulge in royal cuisines from across the country. The new Thali style offering at Shakahari at JW Marriott will bring in wave after wave of lip-smacking appetizers, delicious main course, and rice dishes in combination of any two princely states.

Shakahari at JW Marriott - Maharaj Jai KishenThe wide Thali here will give you an idea of what you can expect. The innovative design of the Thali is as functional as it is beautiful. This carefully curated experience has been put together by expert Maharaj Jai Kishen, a simple tika clad chef with over 4 decades in the kitchen and having cooked for some of the biggest names such as Mittals, Birlas and even Lord Swaraj Paul, Jai Kishen’s grounded persona is simply splendid. He mastered the culinary art under the guidance of the very famous Munna Maharaj. Maharaj Jai is the pivoting energy behind this unique concept.

Shakahari at JW Marriott is currently offering the Royal cuisine of Maharashtra and Rajashtan. But there are a lot more regions in store. The next royal offerings will come from Rajashtan, and Maharashtra will be replaced with North Indian Cuisine. So along with traditional Rajashtani delicacies like Daal bati Churma and Gatte ki Sabzi, you will have Himachal Pulao made with Gucchi Mushrooms, and Makhmali Kofta made with cashew gravy.

There is so much to like about the food that you can enjoy with your friends here, without making trips to the buffet. The exquisite Thali comes with breads from each region and royal kitchens. You are spoilt for choice when Palak Puri, Fulkas, Ajwaini Puri from Rajasthan competes with Roti, Naan, Garlic Naan, and stuffed Kulcha from Punjab.

Shakahari at JW Marriott - shakahari veggies

The preparation of all the curries and veggies is different and you will not find the same taste profile for any two veggies. While Sabz Panchmel is a lightly spiced collection of veggies, Pindi Choley of the North are prepared in the traditional Punjabi spices. The Jodhpuri Gatte ki Sabzi too is not what you would have had at some other Thali restaurants in Pune.

Apart from the traditional veggie offerings, the Thali also offers some of the uncommon dishes that you won’t find on Rajasthani menus in the city. The Ker Sanger Ke Kofte is an example of something new and uncommon. The sour leaves and beans Kofte served in Tomato gravy are definitely worth a trip to the restaurant.

Shakahari at JW Marriott - traditional desserts

The endless choices of the lunch Thali are exhausting and intoxicating. But don’t forget that there is also a Royal Dessert spread. Offering a befitting end to this lavish spread is Shakahari’s new ‘Misthan Bhandar’ which will give patrons a glimpse of what the Indian royal families would traditionally indulge in. Guests can enjoy an array of scrumptious, crafted mithai as well as a variety of fresh cut fruits and sugar free desserts in the ‘Misthan Bhandar’.

Talking about the launch, Vineet Mishra, General Manager of JW Marriott Pune said, “India is a land of immense geographical diversity, each comprising varied dialects, flavors, spices and regional cuisines that showcase culinary finesse. Food is at the genesis of everything we do at Marriott and we want to revive the culture of food in its most authentic Indian form and that is the philosophy at Shakahari- a royal dining experience, JW Marriott Pune. Keeping this focus, Maharaj Jai Kishen seamlessly blends tradition and flavor for each dish that is specially curated by him.”

The restaurant serves Dinner Thali at all times. However, Lunch Thali is available only on the weekends. So if you are in mood of a Royal Indian Experience, head over to Shakahari at JW Marriott in Pune.
