Romantic Road Book Plot
Lacy Telchev is a 20 something who married an old Russian author. She is a wealthy widow now, and is already being wooed by her husband’s lawyer. After finding her apartment ransacked, she discovers a key to a safe deposit box. The box further deepens the mystery. There is a letter from her husband and he asks her to visit his old friends in Quebec.
It doesn’t take long for Lacy to learn that husband Igor was working on something dangerous. His work is bound to make governments fall, and so he has hidden it in the most ingenious ways. Lacy must travel incognito, or rather, under false identities to go hunting for his last manuscript.
She embarks on this quest and is aided by a handsome stranger who is actually shadowing her on the request of her friends. They follow the Romantic Road across Germany and Hungary, taking the scenic route, seeing the sites and enjoying each other’s company while they collect different parts of the manuscript. There are a lot of goons out to get them but somehow Lacy manages to stay a few steps ahead.
Romantic Road Book Review
I am not sure how I would rate Romantic Road book. It is not quite high flying action or adventure, but then, it is neither boring. The narrative moves at a fast clip. I liked reading about all the scenic places in Germany, Austria, Hungary!
Why would a young woman in a dead marriage break several international laws to do something that is going to put her life in danger? Especially a 20 something girl who’s got her life ahead of her? If you ignore that shaky premise, you might just have a blast reading the Romantic Road.
Overall, I say it is a casual read that is familiar enough to be comfortable and different enough to hold interest.
