Ashutosh Gowarikar returns after a gap of nearly six years with Mohenjo Daro – another historical epic. His last two movies – What’s Your Rashee? and Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se – didn’t do too well and he must be pinning high hopes on Mohenjo Daro movie. India’s fascination with this lost civilization is understandable, but the movie promos do not really inspire much to watch the movie as the story line appears to be fairly mundane.
Mohenjo Daro is scheduled to release on 12th August and will battle it out with Akshay Kumar starrer Rustom at the box office. With the Independence Day long weekend in India, both movies have enough time to make a grand opening.
Mohenjo Daro Cast
Hritik Roshan and Pooja Hegde play the lead roles in the story with a strong supporting cast of Kabir Bedi, who will be seen as the powerful, evil adversary.

Mohenjo Daro Movie Review
The adventure-romance promises to give the viewers a feel of this ancient civilization that we know so little about. The problem is, we know so little that it is extremely difficult to capture life from that era. The movie turns out as a mashed up version of Galdiator and 10,000 BC.
Common man vs. the ruler problems are very similar to those that we saw in Lagaan. The timing of Independence Day release may help Samran’s fight for farmers with ruling class. However, Hritik Roshan’s performance seems awkward, at best.
The movie begins with some awesome dance and sequences in the first half, but then progresses to a common love story genre. It has some good moments and there appears to be a lot of work put into recreating the lost era, but overall the movie is a maybe. The movie fails on multiple counts and you would have expected better from Gowarikar.
