It wasn’t until a few years back that I discovered the various coffee blends. Until that time my coffee world was restricted to Bru, Nescafe, and when I got really ambitious, I ventured into the only brewed coffee I knew – the Madrasi filter coffee.
The world of Espressos, Lattes, and Mocha hadn’t invaded the next door cafes in India. I don’t know if the one and only Indian Coffee House serves these various blends now.

I recently had an opportunity to taste the Jamaican blends, the Columbian blends, Arabian roasted blends and others. Currently, the Americano at Barrista’s is a favorite. The caffeine effects have now forced me to cut down the intake. I really wish we get some decaffeinated options at the cafes soon.
My love for a cup of Coffee may be forced to its all time low, but I still love the drink. Le Meridien is celebrating The International Coffee Week with its “Around the World in 7 Days” fest across the world, and so is Le Meridien Pune.
The hotel kicked-off the week by combining its Coffee fest with celebrations of World Eclair Day.
The hotel showcased blended cold coffee recipes like The African Queen, which was a mixture of Bananas, Coco and Espresso.
There were some unusual combinations like the Chili mixed version from Mexico, served in a Martini glass.

We also had the opportunity to try out some other Coffee recipes. I personally like the The Spice Trial. The Spice Trial was heavy on the Cinnamon, with some Peanut Butter and background taste of Apricots. The Cinnamon and Apricot combination made this almost like a dessert – perfect for an after dinner round of Coffee.

The good folks at Le Meridien made tasting these various Coffee recipes a lot of fun as we also learned how to create some amazing Coffee art with the Coffee foam.
If Coffee is not your thing, the hotel has a range of eclairs that you will surely love to try. The cream filled mini doughnuty things are a pure delight. We had a lovely chat with Chef , who has been around the world sharing his eclairs.

The simple egg-flour-water dough make these sugar loaded delights an easy recipe to make. But why go through all that trouble when you can have a perfectly paired coffee in the comfort of Le Meridien, on a muggy, wet afternoon?
