Copper Chimney has been around for many years now and served one of the best buffets in Mumbai even back in the 80s. Although Copper Chimney came to Koregain Park before, it is now shut down and was a franchise. Copper Chimney in Phoenix Market City opened recently on the third floor, which is now being dubbed as the fine dining area. The floor also has restaurants like The Indigo Deli and Cuba Libre, and Social on its way. With Copper Chimney, diners now have a nice, dedicate North Indian restaurant where they can enjoy delicious grilled food in a pleasant seating.
The sitting is divided in mainly two sections and you can also choose the couch seating at the end of the room, where you can get a big group seating. Withe mellow lighting and earthy tones, you are reminded of North Indian rural setting, which gives a warm glow.
The temperatures in Pune are already into high thirties and it seems like Spring is going to give us a miss this year. With Summer round the corner, the Cucumber-Mint-Lemon cooler at Copper Chimney is the perfect drink to rejuvenate after a shopping spree at the mall.
The restaurant is running a Kebab Festival till end of February 2017 and has many grilled delicacies on the menu that you won’t otherwise find on the menu. If you visit in big group, the Frontier Raan is something you should definitely try. The big roasted leg of mutton is not something a couple of people can finish and you surely need a few to devour this beast.
But don’t get disheartened, the restaurant also does a similar thing with chicken. The Raan-e-Murg is equally appetizing and comes stuffed with chilli cheese. The grilled Tandoori leg with oozing cheese is definitely a must-have appetizer during the kebab festival.
The festival has something for everyone. If you prefer seafood and a spicy preparation. You must give a try to the Nimboo Mirch Macchi. The flaky and juicy pieces of fish are marinated in a green chili marination and lemon juice.
However, when I was there, what caught my eye was the Endless Charcoal Grill at Copper Chimney. The buffet style offering comes with an endless stream of 5 Veg and 5 Non-Veg appetizers like Chicken Tikka. While other similar restaurant buffets offer a wider range of main course.
This one comes with choices of Aloo Kulcha and Biryanis. Some might argue that the choices are limited, but I would still prefer all the food served at the table and have a fine dining experience over making trips to the the buffet.
Overall, the a la carte menu for the Kebab Festival at Copper Chimney is very impressive with an assortment of Chicken, Lamb, and Seafood and is a grilled food lover’s delight. Make sure you try this Copper Chimney menu on your visit to the Phoenix Marketcity mall in Pune.
