Sujoy Ghosh is now back with Kahaani 2 with Vidya Balan as Durga Rani Singh. Kahaani 2 is scheduled to release on November 25 2016 and we are eagerly looking for this one. Kahaani was perhaps one of the best thrillers to come out of Bollywood in recent years. Vidya Balan’s performance and Sujoy Ghosh’s story and direction both were superlative and won many awards for the movie including three National Award.

Written again by Sujay Ghosh, Khaani 2 is set in Kalimpong, West Bengal and Kolkata. The misty hill station backdrop should work well for another riveting thriller from the master storyteller. Kahaani 2 songs are composed by Clinton Cerejo and the album has just three tracks. Kahaani 2 star cast is supported by Jugal Hansraj and Kharaj Mukherjee.

Kahaani 2 Story
I will try to not narrate the entire story here as it will kill the thrill and surprises in the plot. Vidya Balan’s character tells us that Durga Rani Singh is on the run and labelled as murderer and a kidnapper. But she is also known and Vidya Sinha and has a daughter Mini Sinha.
In persuit is Sub-inspector Indrajeet Singh played by Arjun Rampal, who seems unconvinced that Durga Rani Singh can be a murderer and a fugitive.
Durga Rani Singh plays both the victim and perpatrator for the viewers. The movie progresses in a non-linear fashion where you get to see events in the present and from the past, as Durga Rani Singh lives in Kalimpong. The question posed to Indrajeet singh is if Durga Rani Singh is really a victim, as revealed in her diary.
The angle of diary as the narrator of the past seems eerily similar to Gillian Flynn’s Bestselling book Gone Girl, which was later also made into a movie by the same name. Whether the entire story is similar or not, the trailer surely promises something new for Hindi movie audience.
Kahaani 2 Review
Thankfully, the diary par tis where the similiarity to the The Gone Girls ends. Kahaani 2 captures The Gone Girl only in essence. The story has many twists and revelations that will surprise you with consistecy.
With a sprinkle of humor, the director paints a canvas that is very real. The Director also use silence effectively. That you do not notice background music is a big achievement for a Bollywood movie. The movie captures daily like in Kolkata and WB effectivel, similar to Sujoy Ghosh’s other movies. Performances by all the characters in the movie are on the spot and Arjun Rampal plays the role of a young, dashing PSI with ease.
Pacey, Thrilling, and Engaging are some of the words you can use to praise the movie. But it is not without flaws. The movie seems to drag a bit in the middle of the second half and fails to build on the tension in the first half, but it does catch your attention again. Some cliches like a baddie China Town point to where the movie seems to lose its grip.
After all the thrills the end seems predictible. However, the audience seems to like the goody-goody end and we heard a lot claps and hoots for the little minni. It could, of course, have ended ten minutes earlier without the cheat-sheet and a tutorial to the story.
Kahaani 2 Movie Review: To sum it up, Kahaani 2 is a good story that communicates an important social message in a thrilling and entertaining manner, with a motherly figure as the protector of a child and reiterates her responsibility to her kids.
