Do You Really Need a 4G Network

Is 4G just the latest buzzword on the telecom landscape? Do you really need a 4G network? and will it make a difference in how you use your device? I am usually not the one to jump on to the latest bandwagon and rush to the nearest store to get my hands on the new tech.

But social media, perpetual connectivity, and the increasing number of everyday things that we do with the Smartphone have made it impossible to survive without being connected.

My smartphone is full of apps and there are always a couple that are on the wait list that I am dying to install. One of the drawbacks of these apps is that they need lot of phone resources as well as strong connectivity to perform at their full potential.

After all, you don’t want to have a smartphone that takes minutes and minutes to respond to tap and fetch information from the Internet. Imagine looking up directions to a place on the move and the navigation app responding after you have crossed the last turn and moved far away. The GPS and navigation app is not much of a help here, is it?

So yes, I think it is time to move on to the 4G network. And it is not just for these routine things. Streaming videos is a bit part of our entertainment. I love to catch-up with the latest movie trailers and songs in between work to get a bit of a breather. How do you think that works? Getting a good quality video to play is an agonizing wait. I hate when I have to ditch the video after watching it halfway through because the connection is not strong enough to load it without interruptions.

But streaming media is not only about entertainment. There are a thousand other How-To videos online that give you tips about everything. Need to fix that laptop cover? or change the RAM? Well there is always a video that will show you how to open your device and fix whatever is wrong.

But the most important reason why I want to move to and am excited about the 4G network is because it works as my back-up connection. My broad works just fine and I have no problems with connectivity. It is just when the line goes down, it takes an awful lot of time to get it fixed. Time I cannot afford to lose.

A strong 4G mobile connectivity plan will work as the backup connection when my broadband is down. I also get to connect my PC to the network when I am traveling and create wireless hotspot for others. With 4G connection, multiple devices hooking up to the hotspot is not a problem.

Airtel’s 4G connection is surely come at the time when it is needed most. And I am glad that they have made getting the SIM easy. All you need to do is tweet #GetAirtel4G and you will have the SIM delivered at your doorstep.
