Death and Nightingales on Starz is an intense drama of family secrets and and equally about love and betrayal. The series is based on the book by Eugene McCabe and has been made into a series before by others. We all try to not upset the cart as far as we can. But sometimes the pain becomes too unbearable and forces us to do things we didn’t dream of. However, events and situations we perceive as injustice can take a different meaning when secrets are revealed and force us to reconsider our decisions.
What is Death and Nightingales Series About?
Death and Nightingales series follows Beth Winters, as the events around her 23 birthday culminate in a surprising and painful end.
The series is set in 1885 Ireland at the time when sectarian strife is building and the murmurs for freedom of Ireland are on the rise. Beth Winters has recently lost her mother and is unhappy about the unwanted attentions she is getting from her step father Billy.
He is a strong sectarian, possessive, and abusive. With her mother gone and no one to turn to, Beth falls for the charming and roughish Liam. Liam is one of her father’s tenant and live down the road. Their romance grown, but so does the news of their affair to Billy. Taunted by and ridiculed for not being able to control the daughter, Billy resolves to break them up. He also suspects that Liam is secretly pro Ireland freedom and a threat.
But Beth is determined to leave, and the two hatch a plan. She asks Liam to kill Billy, take his gold and take her to America where they can live happily ever after.
However, as the day comes to an end, Beth makes a shocking discovery which forces her to re-evaluate everything.

Jamie Dornan, Matthew Rhys, and Ann Skelly star in the lead roles in the new drama series. Allan Cubitt and Jonathan Cavendish adapt the book and also direct the series.
