The Charles Dickens’ classic story has seen many adaptations over the years and has enthralled audiences every time. The latest adaptation, A Christmas Carol series on FX and BBC One brings a contemporary story with a younger Scrooge and with current desires and faults.

Steven Knight writes and develops the classic with an ensemble cast headed by Guy Pearce. The three episode series directed by Nick Murphy premieres on December 19 2019.

A Christmas Carol Series Plot
The latest adaptation of A Christmas Carol is set in contemporary times and follows Ebenezer Scrooge, a wealthy and successful businessman.
We meet Ebenezer Scrooge as he is plunged in sorrow of losing his business partner. But the practical Scrooge is much tougher and is trying to move on by becoming immune to emotions.
So when Bob asks him permission to leave early to be with his family, Scrooge denies him that and tell his that Christmas is like any other day and does not warrant anything special.
Ont the other hand, Scrooge’s dead former business partner Jacob Marley begs for peace in his coffin. Having repented himself, the Spirits have news for him. He will linger in purgatory until Scrooge himself repents, something Marley knows he will never do.
A spooked Scrooge is visited by Marley, who has a warning: Scrooge will be visited by three Spirits. He takes Scrooge on a deeply personal journey, exposing his darkest childhood memories, his cut-throat business manner, his isolation and manipulation of those around him.
