Apple TV+ Brings City on Fire in Dramatic Adaptation

City on Fire series on Apple TV+ is inspired by the novel of the same name, with the new story set in 2003 in New York.

The series follows an investigation into a young girl’s death. Samantha is an NYU student and spending some time alone on the 4th of July. Her friends are performing at a downtown club, but Samantha chooses to leave the venue to meet someone and promises to return before the event in over. But she doesn’t.

She is shot in Central Park, allegedly there to meet someone important. Important enough to miss her friends’ live performance. Soon, the news captures everyone’s eye and a detailed investigations begins.

As the detectives dig deep into her activities, she turns out to be a pivotal connection between some strange occurrences. Downtown music scene, a wealthy real estate family grappling with financial problems, and citywide mysterious fires all connect to Samantha somehow.

Chase Sui Wonders plays Samantha with Wyatt Oleff as her friend Charlie who will stop at nothing to find the truth. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage develop the series. Jemima Kirke, Nico Tortorella, Ashley Zukerman, Xavier Clyde, Max Milner add to the ensemble cast.

The eight episode series premieres on Apple TV+ on May 12, 2023.
