We have only a few horror movies coming out in Bollywood each year. And frankly, Ramsey and Vikram Bhatt have stopped scaring people and become a predictable lot. Horror movie hungry Bollywood fans seem to have an exciting new movie in store. Dobaara movie is a psychological-supernatural thriller that promises to make you clutch your seat in the theaters this June. The movie follows the Merchant family as they movie to a new house and come in possession of a haunted mirror that will turn their life upside down.

Directed by Prawal Raman, the movie is made under the banner of B4U Motion Pictures. The story is written by Mike Flanaggan and Jeff Howard, and the movie is a official Hindi remake of the movie Oculus, which is rated as the scariest movie from Hollywood.

Dobaara Movie Story
Dobaara movie story revolves around the lives of Merchant family. Set in London, The movie tells the story in two parallel timelines and takes you back and forth in time. The movie begins with a brief history of the fear of witchcraft prevalent in England in the sixteenth century and the witch trials and executions. So the mirror is possessed by Ana fro the last three centuries. You are then told about the murders in the Merchant Villa.
Police, of course, do not believe in witchcraft and the evidence points to Alex killing his wife, and kabir, his son, killing him. Based on the circumstances, Kabir has spent the last ten years in a psychiatric ward and now believes that the mirror may not be the reason behind their deaths. Nevertheless, they tell us their version of the story and give us the bizarre details of the events that lead up to their parents’s death.
Dobaara Movie Review
The film makers held a special screening of the movie in LA for the Director of the original movie Oculus and according to our source, “Mike has recommended everyone who has seen Oculus to go see Dobaara as it provides a fresh take of the film with added elements. He’s very pleased with the production and sound and casting of the film. He’s also happy and hopes to see and be a part of further such collaborations between Hollywood and Hindi Films Industry in the future.”
There is no doubt that this psychological thriller is not your run of the mill Bollywood movie. The movie moves a ta slow pace early on, but changes gear just before the interval. Although you are told that the mirror is haunted, you begin to doubt that theory as Natasha and Kabir hash out the details of past murders. Performances by Huma Qureshi and Adil Hussain leaves are spot on. The overall tone of the movie is dark. It is not your usual Ramsey Horror Genre movie with ugly ghosts running after helpless victims.
The movie slowly builds toward a crescendo ending with a finish you have always dreaded. Dobaara also differs from Hindi movies in that many things are left unanswered and the story is left open for a sequel. And in spite of ample visual proof, you still don’t know if there is indeed a ghost or is it just a story of an imaginative killer.
Watch this movie if you like tense thriller dramas. There are a few moments that will make you jump, but not many to make you clutch at your seats.
