Anarkali of Arrah Music Review

The album comes with a strong bouquet of ten songs sung mostly in folksy tunes. The lyrics definitely do not make the songs ideal for kids with an exception of a couple. Rekha Bharadwaj’s Badnaam Jiya De Gaari composed in a Indian classical style echoes the pain of the dancer and her story in lyrics as well as the music. The composition is melodious and painful at the same time. The sounds of violin, sitar and tabla along with vocals make this a delightful composition.

Swati Sharma sings all her songs in spirit of a traveling folk dance troupe and paints the picture in front of your eyes that you have seen in movies set in UP and Bihar. Sonu sings for a movie after a long time. His Mann Beqaid Huva brings a contemporary feel to the album and seems out of place in the album, but must make sense in the movie.

MovieRecipe Verdict: Songs that fit well with the subject of the movie, but not many that you will listen out of the movie hall.
