After success of Drishyam, Mohanlal comes in a new family drama Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol along with Meena. This will be Mohanlal’s first in 2017 after success of Oppam and Pulimurugan in 2016. The movie is based on a short story by V. J. James and is about the life of Panchayat secretary Ulahannan in a small town in Kerala. Originaly scheduled for a Diwali release and then Christmas 2016, the film is now all set to release on 20th January 2017 and will be a family oriented romantic comedy.

M. Sindhuraj adapts Pranayopanishad for the movie. Most of the shooting for the movie was completed in Kerala. The music for the movies is composed by Bijibal and M. Jayachandran and has four tracks.

Ulahannan is a middle-aged panchayat secretary in a small town in Kerala. He loves his wife, but the daily grind has taken away the passion. And as the title suggests, his life wholly revolves around his wife.
But his life takes an interesting turn when he finds love outside of wedlock. Little things like phone calls and flirtatious messages bring a new spring in his stride. This sudden change is not lost on his friends and near ones.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol promises to be a fun couple of hours at the cinemas this weekend. The initial audience reactions have been favorable. The first half mostly paints the drudgery of daily life and the fleeting romance in wedlock. Mohanlal once again gives an amazing performance and his character, though flawed, is likable. A complete family entertainer, Mohanlal and Meena’s chemistry is unmistakable and brings a smile to your face. It is the family that takes the center state here, like Drishyam, but this is not a thriller. Get ready for a warmhearted, feel good drama fro your weekend flick.
