Dangal Music Review

Most of the songs from Dangal have a folksy feel and fit right into the movie’s mood and situations. While they may seem great in the narrative, the tracks are not something that you will go back to or want to play on a drive or put on when you are in a mood to listen to some music.

Daler Mehandi’s Dangal is perhaps the only track that you might put on to shake some blues or get some energy. he sings the Dangal Title track in the style much like Rang De Basanti and it is hard to not get moved by the passion in his voice or energy of the Punjabi beats.

Hanikaarak Baapu is playful and narrates the tale of exhausted kids complaining against the drill and repeat methods used to train the girls and make them better at their game. The song mixes of some traditional instruments and rhythms to give it a native feel.

Gilehriya changes the mood with an easy listening track that is romantic with simple but interesting lyrics. The music and Jonita Gandhis rendition add a mischievous feel to the song that will make you feel one with the nature and uplift your mood. Idiot Banna is a folksy track with traditional rhythms and does not offer anything new to be excited about and the folksy effect mostly comes from the Nooran sisters’ vocals.
