Befikre Story
Befikre or being carefree is a story of carefree romance. Aditya Chopra has promised that movie showcases a new generational love and romance, which will break away from many of the old YRF movie tenets. Which means he will walk away from the mold of dramatic conflict, strong emotional connect, and whirlwind romance.
Storyline: Dharam plays a flirtatious romeo from Delhi in Paris. A stand-up comedian who is invited by his college friend to work at his restaurant. Shayra is a carefree, independent, and spirited daughter of immigrant parents who own a restaurant in Paris. Dharam (Ranveer Sngh) and Shyra (Vaani Kapoor) are two strangers who meet in Paris and hit it off immediately. But both seem to be reluctant to make any commitments or even accept that they are falling for each other, after a wild couple of days together. They think confessing about love kills the carefree aspect and muddles the relationship.
But love is a funny thing and they slowly and unknowingly fall in love. However, this sentiment is not clear to them until they decide to separate and get married to someone else than each other. The on-again, off-again romance and pranks underline the whole movie.
Befikre Movie Review
The stand-up comedy is quite poor but then Dharam is not a star. You are greeted with a whirlwind romance, but the movie slows down a bit just before the interval. The attempt to preach also takes hold of the narrative as the movie tries to send across a message about how to handle breakups in a mature and grown up way.
Most movies fail to add anything new other than trailer to the movie played in the halls these days. Thankfully, there are more crazy things than what u see in the trailer. The movie also comes across as a better example of women empowerment than many others that claimed to be one.
With non-stop dares and silly challenges the Befikre movie is a fun couple of hours at the cinemas.
Befikre is a classic Yash Chopra style production romance, scripted for the current times. Definitely one of the best romantic movies we have seen in a long time. The director builds familiar tension between the protagonist and his love interest and makes the audience root for them to come together.
Although the core story may not have anything new, good performances by Ranveer and ravishing Vaani Kapoor – who for some reason looks very old in some shots – and the foot tapping music keeps you invested in the onscreen proceedings.
