On the heels of Banjo, we have another movie based on life of musicians releasing this year with Rock On 2 movie. Rock On 2 movie is scheduled to release on 11th November 2016 and fans can expect some November rain in this second installment. Although critically acclaimed, the first installment of the movie did not do too well at the Box Office.

The first movie followed a typical music band life cycle of band members getting their first contract, the infighting, and then alienation. Rob lost his battle with cancer in the last movie and Magik finds a new team member in Shraddha Kapoor as Jiah Sharma in Rock On 2!! Shraddha Kapoor also sings three songs in the movie with music composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, who seem to be in their element with this one.

The band has found a new singer and is back in action after a brief hiatus. And as Aditya declares at their concert, it is the electric energy of their fans that has brought them back to the stage. Aditya has found a new protegee in Jiah. As he encourages her and guides her, they fall in love and the movie mostly revolves around their love life. The troubles for the band don’t seem to end and Aditya once again finds himself questioning his decision to return to his old band.

Rock On 2 Movie Review
The early reviews are in and the audience has given a mixed reaction to the movie. Critics too have found much to find fault. But I disagree with some of these early reviews.
The movie opens with a brief introduction to where all the members of Magik stand as of today. Adi is living in remote Meghalaya and trying to reconnect with his life after the tragedy of Rahul Sharma, which still haunts him. Joe is a successful club owner and KD is singing what his clients ask. They are happy but not ecstatic and miss making music together.
In all this realignment, Adi faces some resistance from local politicians and loses hard work he has put in, in the last five years. He returns to Mumbai on insistence of his family and friends. And that is when he meets Jiah again.
The movie’s has a good story and the easy, flowing screenplay does not allow you to get bored. There are enough events in this musical drama to keep you interested in what is happening on the screen. And just when you think it is getting a tad boring, music comes to your rescue. Good music essential to the success of a musical drama and Rock On 2 does that very well.
Good performances by all actors, including the new characters leave nothing to find fault and none of the scenes or dialogues appear forced.
MovieRecipe Verdict: There is not a lot for audiences who throng the theaters for movies like Great Grand Masti or Housefull 3. But anyone who appreciates a good Drama, will have a wonderful experience at the cinemas.
