Summer has come to an end and film industry’s most lucrative season is on its way out. So which movies fared best in Summer 2016 at the box office in the U.S.? Traditionally Superheroes and horror flicks take the leading position in this season along with animation movies. Finding Dory

Finding Dory is a sequel to 2003 Film Finding Nemo. Dory has lost her memory and is trying to reunite with her parents. She is captures and transferred to California Public Aquarium, where she is rescued by Marlin and Nemo. The movie made a total of around $900 million for the summer season and won the first position at the Summer Box Office.

Captain America: Civil War

This one is a sequel to 2011 movie, The First Avenger, and features an ensemble cast of Marvel superheroes. Iron Man and Captain America have divided in to rival faction who have different views on how the oversight on Avengers should function. The Superheroes film made a mark on the box office with $1.5 Billion for the Summer. But then it was released in April and had a long summer.

The Secret Life of Pets

The same cannot be said of The Secret Life of Pets. Released much later in July, the move still managed to make roughly $700 million at the box office. Cats, dogs, birds and many more form the animal kingdom weave an engaging narrative as two pet dogs are attacked by alley cats and then struggle to survive the day-to-day life on the streets.

Suicide Squad

Why shoud Superheroes have all the fun? Here is a movie that brings together the supper villians as they are sent on a suicide mission in return for a partial pardon. Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and El Diablo and others join hands to save the world from an imminent threat under the command of Amanda Waller. The movie made a respectable six and a half million despite its August release.

X-Men Apocalypse

The ninth installment of the sci-fi franchise failed to make a big splash during the summer movie season and made roughly 500 million at the box office. A team of renegade mutants is out to destroy humans lead by En Sabah nur. The X-Men must join hands to defeat this ancient mutant and save the world.

The Legend of Tarzan

Although the movie got mixed reviews, The Legend of Tarzan did quite well at the Summer box office. The film grossed nearly three and a half million in its latest avatar. Tarzan is happily settles in London. But when he gets information that the Belgians are enslaving the Congolese people, he must return to find out the truth and help his people.

Star Trek Beyond

Star trek beyond is the third film in the Reboot Series and thirteenth over all. USS Enterprise is stationed in Yorktown for resupply when they decide to heed a distress call. But they are attacked by Krall during the mission. The movie failed to make a big dent and clocked approximately $250 million at the box office.
