What is the Movie About?
1862. Lib Wright, an English nurse, travels alone to an Ireland still traumatised by the Great Famine of 1845 to 1849. Upon arrival, she takes a horse-drawn carriage through remote, rainswept countryside until she arrives at the inn where she will be staying for 15 days.
The local committee has employed Nurse Wright, a Nightingale who tended soldiers in the Crimean War, to watch Anna O’Donnell. The 11-year-old girl claims not to have eaten for four months, surviving miraculously on “manna from heaven”.
Nurse Wright and Sister Michael must take it in turns to conduct eight-hour shifts
in order to establish authenticity. Is this a miracle, or a hoax? In 15 days’ time, Nurse Wright and Sister Michael will present their testimony to the committee.
