M. S. Dhoni Movie Story

We all know about Dhoni the star. The man who walks onto the ground in the time of crises and literally swoops away all the hopes of the opposing team with a swish of the bat. The film, however, looks behind this highly successful athlete. Before making it big, Dhoni was a Train Ticket Examiner in Indian Railways. The movie follows the path the cricketer took from being a player for the Railways to becoming the cricket captain who won India their World Cup in 2011. M. S. Dhoni was spotted byBCCI's Talent Resource Development Officer Prakash Poddar in Jamshedpur in 2003. But his debut in 2004/5 season was disastrous. He was run out for zero in his first match. But within a year Dhoni, promoted up the order to do quick damage after early loss of Tendulkar, scored an unbeaten 183 chasing 299 against Sri Lanka, and won his first match for India. The rest is History.

M. S. Dhoni Movie Review

Sushant Singh Rajput plays the character with flourish and looks and walks like Dhoni. You can feel the man in the actor as he plays this real-life character. The full, overbooked morning shows are a testament to the popularity of the man himself and the little that people have seen in the glimpses of the movie. Fox Star movies have always been technically superior of the lot and this one does not disappoint either. With good supporting cast and performances it is hard to not get invested in the movie or feel the energy on screen.   From passion for sports in young Mahi, to acceptance of failure in young Mahi, to love and loss in the life of man behind the cricketer, Neeraj Pandey captures all shades perfectly. Sushant Singh Rajput's super performance does not leave anything wanting as he paints the unknown Mahi for his audiences. And though you know how the movie is going to end, you end up rooting for the Mahi on screen. The attention to detail in the movie makes it nearly impossible to find faults. Perfect casting - from a young Yuvraj Singh to that of Dalmiya's character -  adds another layer of authenticity to the whole story. As does near perfect use of digital graphics that place Sushant Singh in real-life cricket match footage. Although some have pointed out that the movie derails in the second half, I do not agree to this. The biopic gives just enough space to Mahi's personal life and shows us that he is not captain cool just on the cricket ground, but also in real life. After all, the movie is not about cricket. The controversial decisions that he took and his choices are know to all. The movie is 'The Untold Story". You can say that the movie is lopsided in that it does not show any negative traits of the character and paints him as a saint. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZkXcFz6Hzc

M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story is a must watch and easily one of the best biopics to come out this year.

The movie touches on various facets of Mahendra Singh Dhoni's personality in a very subtle ways that is often lacking in ususal Bollywood movies. No matter how much you like cricket or do not, this is surely not the movie you want to miss. From screenplay to the portrayal of infectious energy, the movie keeps you invested in the story.

For the cricket crazy country, Neeraj Pandey also tells his viewers philosophy of life in language of cricket,

Hit the full toss and half volley of opportunity

Leave the life's balls swinging outside the off stump,

And keep ducking the unplayable bouncers,

But stay on the crease.
