We finally have a thriller after a long time. After a spate of Drama genre movies, I am ready for a good thriller. Raman Raghav 2.0 turned out to be a damp squib. Fever movie promises some action and excitement. With a melodious soundtrack and some fresh faces, this could turn out to be a good choice for the weekend when it releases on 5th August. With Budhia Singh and Ek Ticket Bambai as the only other releases, this one will be the entertainer of choice.

Fever (2016)
Director: Rajeev Jhaveri
Cast: Caterina Murino, Gemma Atkinson, Victor Banerjee, Rajeev Khandelwal
Fever Movie Story
A man wakes up in a hospital after a car accident and has no memory of who he is. Gradually, he remembers his name, but is still unaware of where he comes from or what he does for a living. He strongly believes that he has committed a crime and there are people who are looking to hurt him. But if he is an assassin, why don’t we see any investigators looking into him.
The big question is, is he really an assassin? Or is someone trying to convince him that he is one. He could just as easily be a secret agent in a foreign land. This one really looks like an adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s Bourne Identity. Maybe the movie will prove me wrong.
Fever Movie Review
Let me begin by saying that all my guesses were wrong. The story of the movie is good. It was nice to see something different. Having said that, the execution of the movie is very poor and does not do justice to the writer’s work. Although the concept is not groundbreaking, the writer and the movie keep you wondering who Rajeev Khandelwal is.
The first half of the movie is too slow and this could also be said of the overall pace of the movie. The second half is a bit better as the plot begins to unravel. All the ‘Ifs’ and ‘what ifs’ are thought of by the character and this sucks the action out of the movie. It would have been much better if the director had followed the ‘Show, don’t tell’ mantra.
Rajeev Khandelwal plays his part well and the ladies do not have much to do. It is difficult to talk a lot more without giving away the plot of the movie and the suspense. Most of the female characters end up being props because of the story and appear to be there just for the lead actor to romance. The movie does not have a lot of action sequences, but the one-off sequence that you see is awkward at best.
Overall, I will say the movie is missing the thrill factor. The suspense is good, but the pace of the movie takes all the fun out of it. A good story that doesn’t get a lot of help from movie-making and leaves you bored most of the time rather than intrigued. Nim’s Island fans will like this movie.
Our movie makers also need to stop explaining the whole thing in a step-by-step manner in the end. Give your viewers the pleasure of making the connections, that will leave them more satisfied than giving them a Summary of the whole movie at the end.
