Under the Banner of Heaven series follows a devout detective as his faith is tested while investigating the Lafferty Brothers.
When he is assigned to investigate a brutal murder, his search leads to American West, where two fundamental Mormon brothers seem to live in savage violence and untamed polygamy in the name of their religion.
He finds out that the two brothers enjoy a legion of followers who believe that the two had a revelation from God and must follow their sermons to stay alive after the apocalypse.
When an esteemed Utah family is implicated, it uncovers a web of messianic delusion and unyielding faith that pushes even fifteen year old girls in a polygamous marriage with its eighty year old chief.
Can the detective see the ugly side of his faith? or will is consume him as others.

Sam Worthington plays Ron Lafferty with Denise Gough as Dianne Lafferty and Wyatt Russell as Dan Lafferty. Billy Howle, Gil Birmingham, and Adelaide Clemens also star. The series is based on the book of the same name by Jon Krakauer.
