Love Ke Funday Music Review

The other day I was wondering that we haven’t heard a song from Sukhvinder Singh recently. Love Ke Funday begins with Naina Shatir Bade sung by Sukhwinder Singh. The song has familiar beats and is sung in his signature style.

Indravesh Yogee promises his audience that this movie is about today’s young in India. He says the movie will not be like the usual love story. He ascribes this difference in the story to suspense about who is pairing with whom till the end of the movie. Or is he trying to hint that the young today are never sure! The movie covers a wide population: one married couple, a live-in relationship, and bachelors with an ever changing (It’s Complicated) relationship status.

Well, whatever it is, we will soon find out. The movie is complete and will focus on getting the word out and creating some buzz. Love Ke Funday releases around 16th July.

The Love ke Funday soundtrack comes to you with 6 tracks, which mostly reflect the energy and party mood of the youth. The soundtrack is refreshing in that it uses Rock influences, but with melodious tracks and various percussion sounds.

Ye Pyaar Hai by Javed Ali and Supriya Pathak will have college goers swing to the beats and rhythm of the song as they make new friends and reconnect with the old. The title Love Ke Funday is catchy, but the lyrics do not inspire much and aren’t something you would want to sing or hum. Anmol Maska has a Qawalli feel. It is closer to the Namak, Beedi item number, but hardly that catchy.

Foot tapping and heavy on percussion, Love Ke Funday songs have a good rhythm going but poor lyrics. Prakash Prabhakar and Farzan Faaiz show a lot of promise and I am looking forward to some more good compositions from them. I hope they are complemented by some good lyrics in the future.
