Raman Raghav was the dreaded killer roaming on the streets of Mumbai in the 60s. Like Charles Shobraj, Raman Raghav was one of the few names we grew up with, discussed in hush voices whenever feared criminals made it to a discussion. Raman Ragahv had killed more than 35 people in his time including his sister and other homeless living on the pavements of Mumbai.
Raman Raghav 2.0
Album by Ram Sampath
Label: T-Series
Scheduled to release on June 2, Raman Raghav 2.0 by Anurag Kashyap tells the story of the serial Killer. Nawazuddin Siddique plays the lead role in the movie. Hope this will be more interesting than the Charles Shobraj biopic.
Music Review
The soundtrack has an overall feel of Rock and Techno sounds. The music may complement the mood and situations in the movie, but do not fit into the easy-listening category or dance and party music themes. Paani ka Raasta and the unplugged version of Qatl-E-Aam may appeal to some. For techno music lovers, Raghav theme is a good choice.
Qatl-E-Aam
Singers: Sona Mohapatra
The track will fit right into the Techno and Electronic category. It might gel with the movie, but is definitely no the one to make it to listeners playlists. The sudden bursts of electronic sounds are too discordant and forced. This is surely not a track that you would want to listen to again and again.
Behooda
Singers: Nayantara Bhatkal
The track kind of mixes Rock and Jazz sounds with forgettable lyrics. The movie might justify the lyrics, but once again not a track that you would listen to out of the theaters. A husky voice may have induced more personality to the song, the current vocals don’t complement the moos of the song that well.
Paani Ka Raaasta
Singers: Siddharth Basrur
This is perhaps the only song that has any potential to be heard repeatedly. It fits into the Blues category, styled on the Lucky Ali kind of composition. The song is slow-paced with a good rhythm and will appeal to slow-rock fans.
Raghav Theme
Singers: Ram Sampath
The techno-trance track has the best chance to make it to any playlists. You will want to put this on your party playlist and even might find it make way to some clubs’ playlist this year. The trance like composition is keeps you interested and you don’t feel like dropping out. A great track if you want a pick-me-up at any time of the day.
Qatl-E-Aam (Unplugged)
Singers: Sona Mohapatra
The short Unplugged version of Qatl-E-Aam is definitely much better than the other. If good strings is your thing, you will like the guitar interludes. A leisurely paced song is soothing to listen. I would still say that the vocals are a weak point here. The singing style doesn’t seem to suite the music.
