What is the Amazon Series The Underground Railroad About?
The Underground Railroad series follows Cora Randall as she breaks the shackles of slavery and embarks on a thrilling journey to freedom.
Set in the antebellum South, Cora Randall is enslaved at a farm in Georgia. But she is inspired by the tales of her mother and determined to get out of their when she hears of a secret underground railroad. Escaping the plantation, Cora discovers that the so called railroad is much grander and bigger than she could have ever imagined. She finds the place bustling with engineers and conductors, and a secret network of tracks and tunnels beneath the Southern soil.
Over the course of her journey, Cora is pursued by Ridgeway, a bounty hunter who is fixated on bringing her back to the plantation she escaped; especially since her mother Mabel is the only one he has never caught.
As she travels from state to state, Cora contends with the legacy of the mother that left her behind and her own struggles to realize a life she never thought was possible.
