For British drama fans, Acorn brings a new Detective British Drama with Bloodlands which also airs on BBC One. The series is set in Northern Ireland and explores personal emotions along with cold case when it opens up old wounds.
What is Bloodlands Series About?
Bloodlands series follows DI Tom Brannick as begins to investigate a cold case that may have a personal connection with his past.
Tom Brannick has been a policeman for over 20 years. He’s a decent man, someone who has known real tragedy during the Troubles. Tom is devoted to his daughter, Issy, he is very protective of her.
He is aided by Niamh, who has been working with Tom for about six months. However, Niamh is not fast to trust anyone, and so while she likes Tom a lot, the only person she’s sure of is herself.
As they try to solve the mystery of a car pulled from Strangford lough containing a possible suicide note, Brannick quickly connects it to an infamous cold case and it seems to have a lot of personal significance for him.
Bloodlands follows their hunt for the legendary assassin known as ‘Goliath’, an explosive cat-and-mouse game where the stakes are incredibly high.

The series stars James Nesbitt as as Brannick, Lisa Dawn as Matthews, and Charlene McKenna as McGovern along with others. Chris Brandon writes the story with Pete Travis as the director.
