The Elizabeth Walker Affair Review
Lane is no doubt an excellent writer and the book sets up the mystery quite well early on in the book. With a strong primary suspect to an allusion to a bigger conspiracy, the readers are hooked.
However, the writing style and pace if the book doesn’t seem to suit a thriller. We don’t see any urgent need for the investigator to solve the crime – other than an obligation to an old friend. As introspection of different characters keeps on for pages, the pace suffers and interest wanes along with the low tide.
Readers who like flowery, metaphorical writing style of an intense Drama may like this, but if you are one of those who pick up a mystery thriller to get goosebumps and a racing pulse, this one is not for you.
