Netflix had last year bought the rights for Baahubali franchise, the most successful movie ever made in India. The first movie took audiences by surprise as they were transported to the magical world of Mahishmati. The popularity of the second topped even the best stars in the industry. With Baahubali – Before the Beginning series, Netflix will take the fans back in time and follow Sivagami’s journey to becoming the queen.

Netflix has partnered with the original team of Arka Media Works and SS Rajamouli to bring audiences the same production values and narrative style as the movies. The network has already ordered two season of the prequel series with the first one premiering with nine episodes.

Baahubali – Before the Beginning series takes you back in time to Mahishmati of the past. Power and politics is at an all time high as Mahishmati is on the rise and posed to become the most powerful kingdom.
The series is based on the book Rise of Sivagami and follows Sivagami as Mahishmati battles with Vaithailis and saves the kingdom at the last minute from a brutal and long thought plan to kill king Somadev.
While Mahishmati is all set to surpass other kingdoms and establish its own empire, Sivagami is transforming herself from being a rebellious girl into a wise and respected queen, keeping her vengeful emotion in check.
