Released in 2015, the story of Poldark family set in the West Country captured audience attention early on and became one of the most watched series of the year and also won the Radio Times Audience Award at BAFTAs. The cornish saga set in the 18th century Cornwall follows Ross Poldark as he returns from the American war of Independence in 1783 to find his world in ruins. A lot has happened since then and Poldark Series 4 on BBC One picks up in 1796 with Ross Poldark preparing to defend Cornwall from George Warleggan.

Poldark series is adapted by Debbie Horsfield and based on the novels of Winston Graham that includes 12 Poldark novels. Poldark series 4 comes with new characters; Rebecca Front as Lady Whitworth, Ossie’s formidable mother and Max Bennett as Monk Adderley, an unscrupulous society figure who is on a collision course with the Poldarks.

Poldark Series 4 Plot
Poldark series 3 saw Ross traverse new family, new love and new conflicts, as the French revolution cast a shadow over life in Cornwall. Facing battles both at home and abroad, Ross answered the call and risked losing everything he held dear.
Poldark Series 4 begins in 1796 with Ross preparing to defend Cornwall from an empowered George Warleggan, and once again risks everything he holds dear as he embarks on a political journey which takes him to the nation’s capital.
Demelza finds her loyalties torn, Elizabeth tries to strengthen her marriage, Morwenna continues to be oppressed by husband Reverend Ossie Whitworth, and the Enyses are tested as never before.

Series 4 Episode 1
While Ross watches Cornwall suffer under the power of Truro’s MP, George Warleggan, Demelza’s infidelity leaves her torn between her husband and a lovesick Hugh, who is set to rival George in the upcoming election.
Series 4 Episode 2
The Poldarks determine to get their relationship back on track and the Enyses announce they’re with child.
Hugh’s worsening health threatens his chance to stand in the election however, and the prospect of him remaining in Cornwall adds pressure to the Poldark’s fragile marriage.
Series 4 Episode 3
Ross makes his maiden speech in parliament and finds himself a little notoriety in London, where he also re-unites with a now adolescent Geoffrey Charles (Louis Davidson) at the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.
