A composition in murder book review

Cherry Tucker is back in Larissa Reinhart’s latest A Composition in Murder book. Hijack in Abstract was my favorite Cherry Tucker book. This time, Cherry is hanging out at Halo House, a premier senior community. She is taking art classes and best buds with Ada and Fred, a young at heart couple.

After teaching in the US and Japan, The Wall Street Journal bestselling author Larissa Reinhart writes humorous mysteries and romantic comedies, particularly featuring sassy female characters with a penchant for trouble.

A Composition in Murder Book Plot

Meemaw’s Tea made millions selling sweet tea and its founder, a formidable 90 something dynamo lives at Halo House. She’s grieving over the death of her daughter and heir when she herself is found murdered. And Cherry is involved. Heavily!

Cherry tries to ‘help’ the police and the family of the victim, questioning or harassing people and finding clues wherever she goes.

On the home front, things are pretty tense for Cherry. Her affair with Deputy Luke has her at odds with her family. Her brother is rotting in jail, and without a decent lawyer. Her Uncle Will, the sheriff, has warned her not to trip up. Todd, the live in ex is acting crazy, colluding with the enemy. What’s a girl to do?

A Composition in Murder Book Review

The violence escalates as Cherry ruffles many feathers. Like the previous book, this book is pretty granular, focused more on the crime itself. There is not much background info. A brief visit with Pearl is the only family flavor. There’s no siblings, no grandpa, and no Max.

The crime when it is solved may not be what you imagined. Get your copy of A Composition in Murder book and get ready to be baffled with multiple story lines in this juicy mystery.
