Agatha Raisin and the Potted Gardener is the third installment of Agatha’s misadventures in the sleepy British village of Carsely. Our Aggie’s taken up gardening only to find someone planted her rival in a pot. I introduced this series with my review of Agatha Raisin and the Deadly Dance, and you must have guessed I am a big Agatha Raisin fan!

The Potted Gardner Review
Agatha’s been trying to forget her crush over neighbor James Lacey. After prancing around from New York to the Caribbean to Greece, France, Italy and Turkey, she drags her exhausted self back home to Lilac lane. There’s a new woman in town, and she’s impressed everyone in the village along with James. Agatha spots her rival’s face lift and desperation from a mile and plunges into competitive mode. Agatha plans to outdo Mary at the garden show, but someone strings her up and plants her in a pot the day before.
With her unerring instinct, Agatha soon finds out that everyone seems to have had a secret grudge against Mary, even the vicar’s wife! With almost everyone a suspect, Agatha joins forces with James and begins investigating the murder. Feeling old and detached, she succumbs to friend Roy’s manipulation and agrees to go back to work in London. Will Agatha Raisin solve the murder and lift the cloud of suspicion that’s hanging over the villagers’ heads?
I admit I love every book in this series, and Agatha Raisin and the Potted Gardener tells us a little more about Agatha’s character. Sir Charles Fraith, another mainstay of the series has not made an appearance yet. Mystery fans, especially who-done-it fans will love this book from M. C. Beaton. If you love this book, check out Hamish Macbeth in Death of a Dreamer, another series by M. C. Beaton set in the Scottish Highlands.
