As a kid, horror movie was a staple afternoon movie with friends. The Summers where I grew up were a scorching hot at 118 F and playing outside was out of question. Getting the VHS from a video library and getting together at someone’s house was then the most exciting way of spending the afternoons. Fall is nothing like that, but afternoons with Halloween movies can be just as scary.
Halloween Horror Movie Classics
With Halloween just a couple of weeks away, Fall has now become the most favorite time to relive those tense moments and get into the mood for some creepy tales.
Evil Dead (1981)
Evil Dead is perhaps the first English horror movie that I must have watched as a kid and it remains vivid in my memory. A bunch of kids go into the woods for a peaceful vacation. Their curiosity inadvertently releases an evil that consumes everyone as they fight to stay alive till dawn.
Poltergeist (1982)
A happy, adorable, close-knit family gets some undesirable guests. The visiting ghosts appear harmless in the beginning, but the horror of living with ghosts dawns on the family as their youngest daughter goes missing. Can they get someone to help them get their daughter back?
The Omen (1976)
Damien is adopted to replace a stillborn child, by Thorns. Damien is odd. People around Damien die all the time. Damien has never been sick even once since he is born. Is he the anti-christ? Why is he with the Thorns? A chilling and thrilling two hours that will keep you glued to your screens.
