Lea Thompson stars in this average Christmas movie The Christmas Clause and plays a busy lawyer and harried parent. Juggling a demanding career, three kids, countless volunteer activities, a stay at home husband – we’ve seen it all before. Until she wishes for something else at a fateful moment, and finds herself in an alternate reality.
The Christmas Clause
Director: George Erschbamer
Stars: Lea Thompson, Andrew Airlie, Rachel Hayward
We are familiar with ‘swap’ movies, and there is nothing much here. It is always easier to wish for someone else’s happiness without counting the blessings in our life. Sophie (Lea Thompson) is in just such a boat. She is a hot shot lawyer, highly successful, uber rich, with a closet full of designer stuff, but finds herself lonely at the top. And surprise surprise, she misses those rambunctious kids of hers!
Sophie struggles to find her way back to her old life, with not much help from the ‘Santa’ who switched her. Overall, this is a so-so movie. There are several better movies on this topic. I’d say Lea Thompson is what makes The Christmas Clause remotely watchable.
