Everything Sucks! Plot
The title is more like a teenager’s mantra and if you are around some, there won’t be a day that you will not here these chants. The new comedy drama from Netflix follows two geeky groups of students. Often cited as mortal enemies, the AV Club and the Drama club members are forced to work on a low-budget movie project.
The group is an assemblage of arrogant and grating kids as well as teenagers who come across as vulnerable enough to keep you from turning off the screens. The series is set in the late 90s around the turn of the century and there is enough denim, clunky video cameras, disc-man, and retro cinematic effects to remind you of the movies and shows like The Wonder Years and Full House.
The series touches the usual subjects of honesty, true friendship, love, and acceptance that are everything and the topics of grave discussions for adolescents.

Everything Sucks! Reviews
The early reviews of the new Netflix series are in and almost everyone agrees that the series comes across as a mish-mash many similar series of the 90s. And although slow to start and capture your attention, the first season develops quite well and will have your approval at the end if you stick with it. Here are some of the comments,
“I’m glad I stuck with it — and let’s hope it has an even more solid and confident second season, if Netflix decides to order one.” ~ Maureen Ryan, Variety
“Right now, the show is playing at copying one or two other series. If those limited moments are any indication, there’s a much better production that Everything Sucks! can become. It just needs to realize that and get there faster, because anything short of being original has been done better elsewhere.” ~ Tim Goodman, The Hollywood Reporter
“ven if it takes a while for audiences to catch on, “Everything Sucks!” matches well enough with the rest of the streaming service’s ecosystem: It is its own thing, just like many of the other Netflix shows we’re already binging.” ~ Melanie McFarlnad, Salon
