On Body and Soul Movie Reviews
The movie has received much praise from critics for its approach to handling a common subject in an artistic and metaphorical depiction. If you love to watch abstract dramas that are not prescriptive and provide the flexibility to add you own meaning, this one us for you. Here’s what the critics are saying about this new romance-drama,
“On Body and Soul‘s fusion of romance, comedy, ultraviolence, and political commentary has the logic of a lucid dream. Enyedi mixes various genres with the flair and confidence of a gifted alchemist.” ~ Chuck Bowen, Slant
“A bit stretched at nearly two hours, with a second act that could definitely be tightened up, the story nonetheless finds its way to a solid ending straight out of the Nora Ephron playbook, albeit with a lot more blood and unpredictable behavior. ” ~ Jordan Mintzer, The Hollywood Reporter
“. . . a determinedly eccentric but intermittently startling misfit romance that marks a singular return to feature filmmaking for Hungarian writer-director Ildikó Enyedi after an 18-year gap.” ~ Guy Lodge, Variety
