The musical is has won the Tony Award 8 times. The play is based on The Rainmaker created by Richard Nash. Nash also published a book based on the play later. 42nd Street Moon’s newest production premieres at the San Francisco Gateway Theatre in April.

110 in the Shade Musical Plot
110 in the Shade musical follows Lizzie, a spinster, living in southwestern region of the US. The town is reeling under a severe drought and all eyes are riveted to the sky.
At turns introspective, romantic, and joyously hopeful, 110 In the Shade is a poignant look at romance in a drought-stricken Depression-era town. Sharp-witted but insecure, rancher’s daughter Lizzie is resolving herself to live out life as a spinster.
Then a charming stranger, Starbuck, comes to town with the promise to make it rain, encouraging Lizzie to dream beyond her own view of herself. Meanwhile, the town Sheriff must deal with the con man as well as coming to terms with his own past.
With Lizzie finding elusive love in arms of the conman, Sheriff File must make a decision about his feelings toward Lizzie and overcome his own emotional baggage if he hopes to be happy again.
