Equipment for Making Bhindi Makhanwala
The recipe is simple and you will not need to follow a lot of things if you already know how to make the Makhani gravy. But you will need a few things ready once you start making this delicious dish.
Bhindi Makhanwala Ingredients
Makhanwala gravy is usually creamy and sweet. Some restaurants do make a spicy version, but the one taste that should stand out is that of cream and white butter. So here is what you will need to make Bhindi Makhanwala recipe.
- 4-5 Plum Red Tomatoes
- 1/4 Cup Tomato Puree
- 8-10 Cashews
- 1 Medium Onion
- 1 inch Ginger
- 4-6 Garlic Cloves
- 2 Tbsp White Butter
- Oil for Frying
- 1/2 tsp Kasuri Methi
- 1 Tbsp Honey
- 1/2 tsp White Pepper
- 1/4 tsp Red Chili powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 4 cups water
For Fried Bhindi
- 1 Tbsp Maida
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp White Pepper
How to Make Bhindi Makhanwala Recipe
There are three major steps to making the Bhindi Makhanwala recipe. You can do a part of these in advance and then assemble the dish before serving, if you like.
For the Makhani Gravy
- Chop the Tomatoes and onions in quarters and bring the water to a boil
- Add the tomatoes, onions, ginger, garlic, and cashews to the boiling water. Boil until the onions are translucent
- Drain the water in another pot and grind the contents into a smooth paste.
For Fried Bhindi
- Cut the Bhindi into halfs or three peices
- Mix the Maida, white pepper and salt in a pot
- Add the Bhindi to the pot and toss it in the flour mixture
- Now heat the oil for frying and fry the Bhindi
- Place the fried Bhindi on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
For Bhindi Makhanwala
- Heat the white butter on a low heat until it melts
- Add the tomato paste and mix well
- Add the tomato puree, White pepper, Red chili powder, garam masala and honey to the gravy and let it simmer
- Add the kasuri methi and fried bhindi tot he Makhani gravy
- Let it simmer for a few minute, and serve your Bhindi Makhanwala with parathas or rice.
